Grade 3 Welcome Letter and Supply List

Dear Parents and Guardians, 

Welcome to 3rd grade at Sidener Academy for High Ability Students! We are excited to begin a new school year with your child. Third grade is a year full of growth, independence, curiosity, and learning, and we look forward to working together to make it a successful and positive experience for every student. 

This year, students will continue building strong reading, writing, math, science, and problem-solving skills while being encouraged to think creatively and challenge themselves. Our classroom will be a place where students are expected to work hard, ask questions, show kindness, and support one another. 

Communication between home and school is very important to me. I will send regular updates about classroom activities, important dates, and ways you can support learning at home. Please feel free to contact us anytime with questions or concerns. Working together helps students feel confident and successful. 

A few important reminders: 

•  Students should come to school each day ready to learn. 
•  Please check folders, backpacks, and communication apps regularly for updates. 
•  Reading at home each night is one of the best ways to help your child grow academically
•  Please practice multiplication facts daily at home to help build speed, accuracy, and 

confidence. 

We are truly looking forward to getting to know your child and helping them have a wonderful year in 3rd grade. Thank you for your support, encouragement, and partnership. Together, we can make this an amazing school year! 

Third Grade Supply List

• 1 pair of scissors (8- to 12-year-old scissors, please) 
•  2 large glue sticks 
•  1 box of 24-count crayons 
•  1 PLASTIC pocket folder 
•  1 pack of pencils (Ticonderoga, please) 
•  2 boxes of tissues 
•  1 container disinfecting wipes  
• 2 composition notebooks-Math and Reflection 
•  1 bottle of glue 
•  1 Three-subject notebook for Language Arts
•  1 brick of Sticky Notes 
•  1 pack of 3 X 5 Index Cards
