Grade 5 Welcome Letters and Supply Lists
Dear Fifth Grader and Families,
First, we would like to welcome you to FIFTH grade! Our names are Dan Jenkins and Devyn Feagin. We will be the 5th grade teachers again this school year. We are so excited to have you join us. This coming year will be exciting and busy. Together, we will explore and learn about many new things. You will learn about early US history, conduct interesting science experiments, participate in novel studies, and so much more. This year in math, students will deepen their understanding of numbers and operations, including fractions and decimals, explore algebraic thinking, and work with geometry, measurement, and data analysis.
To prepare for a successful year, it is important that you continue to practice your math facts over the summer. Being fluent in your multiplication facts and knowing how to skip count will make math lessons much easier! Along with practicing your math facts, I hope you will continue to enjoy books over the summer. Challenge yourself to read from a variety of materials—graphic novels, chapter books, mysteries, magazines, recipes, and more! We will read lots in fifth grade!
Attached to this letter is the supply list. Please try to bring your supplies on the first day of school.
Sincerely,
Mr. Jenkins and Ms. Feagin
